Turbochargers mostly suffer from one main problem: – the lack of lubrication, at start-up & shut down of the engine, if not done correctly, which can cause untimely & expensive damage. Either way the engine must idle for a minute or so, before revving up, or just shutting down from high revs, or else the Turbo will be starved of oil, causing serious damage.

  1. At cold engine start up the Turbo runs without oil for approximately 4-5 seconds & this can damage the Turbo, especially if the engine is revved to quickly, but our Turboprotect prevents this by helping oil to get to the turbo, almost instantly.
  2. At Hot engine shutdown, oil pressure drops rapidly, limiting oil supply to the Turbocharger (which can be still rotating at high speed). The little bit of oil that remains around the bearings becomes heat soaked, forming varnish and carbon deposits on the bearings and rotor assembly, thus causing premature Turbo damage. However, our TURBOPROTECTsends oil under pressure to the Turbo bearings, carrying away built up heat and providing lubrication until the rotor assembly comes to rest. This extra lubrication also keeps the floating bearings centered & lubricated which prevents them from running “metal to metal” when the oil pressure stops & this lubrication continues for 2-3 minutes, which further cools the Turbo rotor assembly.
