Why Turbocharge an Engine?
A turbocharged engine is much lighter and smaller than an equivelant H.P. non Turbocharged natuarally aspirated engine and automatically altitude compensates.
Weight and Size Advantage
In addition a turbocharged engine is not affected as much by altitude when the air gets thin (loses density) as non Turbocharged engines do. A natuarally aspirated engine looses H.P. at 3% per 1000ft. increase in altitude.
